Shiitake Mushrooms Substrate consists of Hardwood pellets (a mix of Oak, Maple, and Walnut) and wheat bran.
This blend of ingredients (hardwood pellets and wheat bran) is one of the most commonly used substrates in the commercial Shiitake mushroom growing world. The fact that our Shiitake Mushroom Substrate is pre-mixed makes it exceptionally easy to create your own mushroom fruiting block, by simply adding water to the bag, pressure cooking, and mixing with spawn.
This fruiting substrate can be mixed with colonized spawn to form amediumthat contains the nutrients and water-retention capacity necessary to produce multiple flushes of large fruiting bodies. You can expect to yield between 1 and 2 pounds of Shiitake Mushroom by mixing one of our Shiitake Spawn Jars with a whole bag of Shiitake Mushroom Substrate.
This product is sold in a Type 14A 0.5 micron filter patch, autoclavable, Unicorn Brand mushroom grow bag.
